We can work better as a group – including when it comes to charity

Nova KBM has been consistently implementing its social responsibility and sustainable development strategy (ESG) for a number of years. Last year, we upgraded our strategy with even more ambitious goals, as we are cognizant of the challenges that climate change brings for both our business and the environment we live and work in. Our commitment to these efforts remains the same even as a member of OTP Group.

The bees in our Urban Beehive produced their first honey 

Our busy bees in their hives of our Urban Beehive on top of the office building in Maribor did an excellent job. According to the experienced beekeepers from the Beekeepers’ Association of Štajerska, who are helping us maintain our Urban Beehive, our bees gave us the greatest harvest far and wide.

Nova KBM awarded the Green Star Certificate and positioned itself as a Green Leader
 

Nova KBM has been awarded a four-star Green Star Certificate for 2021, which places the bank into the “Green Leaders” group. The certificate is awarded by the Sustainable Business Network (CER), which recognized our progress and found that Nova KBM has long ago embarked on a path towards green transition and keeps goals and measures for sustainable business and climate action.

Boosting sustainable mobility with the help of Primož and Lora Roglič

We recently brought our rental bicycles, which can be used for business and private purposes, and which were very well received by employees, from Ljubljana to Maribor as well. There are 10 bicycles available to employees that can be rented at any time, which further boosts our efforts to transition into a low-carbon society.

First electric vehicles in Nova KBM’s vehicle fleet

To commemorate World Environment Day that we celebrated last Sunday, we introduced six new electric vehicles to Nova KBM’s vehicle fleet, which confirm our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Electric vehicles and charging stations are available at three Bank locations across Slovenia – both office buildings in Maribor and the office building in Ljubljana.

New urban beehive abuzz on the roof of the office building in Maribor

Today is World Bee Day and Nova KBM welcomed five bee families, who have found a new home in the urban beehive on the roof of our office building in Maribor. We created a pleasant living environment for our bees by planting honey plants in the direct vicinity of the beehive and we believe that they will feel right at home.

At Nova KBM, we plant and preserve trees and do paperless business

Nova KBM joined the recent Slovenia-wide tree planting campaign Rejuvenate our Forests that was organized by the Slovenian state-owned forests company Slovenski državni gozdovi. Together with our family members, Bank employees planted more than 1000 tree saplings in Kidričevo, Rakov Škocjan and Trojane that will now grow and bind carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas that is the main culprit of global warming and adverse climate change.
